World Kidney Day Training Session Expert Insights on Disease Management and Nutrition
Our Hemodialysis Department recently spearheaded an empowering and enlightening training session aimed at enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of our staff and community members in managing and preventing kidney diseases. Dr. Marymil Dignadice, a renowned specialist in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, delivered an in-depth presentation on the multifaceted aspects of kidney health. She elaborated on the causes of various kidney diseases, emphasizing the importance of early detection and the impact of lifestyle choices on kidney function. Dr. Dignadice also discussed the latest advancements in the treatment of kidney diseases, providing attendees with valuable information on both medical and holistic approaches to kidney care. She discussed the physiological effects of kidney dysfunction on the body, underscoring the critical need for comprehensive and ongoing medical management for patients undergoing hemodialysis.
Our Head of Nutrition and Dietetics Department, Ms. Ma. Soledad Fenete. She talked about the significance of maintaining a balanced diet to support kidney function and prevent the progression of kidney diseases. She also provided practical dietary guidelines tailored for individuals with different stages of kidney disease, emphasizing nutrient-rich foods that can aid in reducing the burden on the kidneys. Her discussion covered the importance of managing intake of protein, sodium, and potassium, along with tips on how to incorporate kidney-friendly foods into daily meals.
